Headaches & Migraines

Many people suffer from regular headaches and migraines. There can be many causes, including dietary factors and lifestyle habits.

In some cases, your bite may be a significant contributing factor. We will assess your bite and your jaw muscles carefully to check if your symptoms of migraines or headaches may be improved with a protective therapeutic mouth splint and/or specific, accurate bite adjustments. Dr Piran has undergone extensive training in this area both over here in the UK and also in America. She is focused on helping you achieve long-term comfort and relief from your symptoms.

In some cases, it may be advisable to incorporate some muscle-relaxing treatments to reduce the muscle forces you are exerting through your teeth and jaws each day. Ongoing teeth grinding and clenching can lead to overdevelopment and enlargement of your jaw muscles, which can, in turn, have an impact on the experience of jaw pain and headaches/migraines. Methods that reduce the level of this muscle activity can thus have a beneficial impact on providing symptomatic relief in these cases.
